The second helmet I've made, this time for a commission for Halloween! Now with craft foam ears and hair! The commissioner didn't want to deal with a traditional wig, so she asked me to make one out of craft foam and showed me a picture of someone else's cosplay. Now, I don't really use craft foam usually for anything more than a stripe or a small detail, so this was a interesting project. I tried several different techniques, trying to replicate the other cosplayer's work, but I really couldn't make it work. So intead I cut many, many, MANY little spikes and layered them inward over a cap I glued to the inside of the helmet. To get them to curve, I simply pulled them over my thumb several times, glued them down, and then painted them on a gradient. Craft foam isn't the way I wanted to go, but I have to say I do like the end result. Midna's helmet from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, made from pink insulation foam, paper clay, craft foam and a plastic disk. Edit: Wow, thank you for the DD! I've been a part of DA for eight years, and this is my first Daily Deviant. I am so honored! I almost hate to plug, but be sure to check out the rest of my gallery and my etsy store here: [link] I'm also available for commissions, so if you think of anything you'd like, feel free to contact me for a quote!
My girfriend is a big big fan of twilight princess. Mainly Midna, and this is the most amazing thing i have ever seen. is there a chance you could make another one? First i'd like to know how much you'd want for it of course, hehe.
Thank you! Just because of the sheer amount of time it takes me to make this, I charge $175 for the helmet, and $220 for it with the hair and ears. I accept Paypal and am willing to take the fee in two parts, half up front and the other half upon completion. Let me know if all of this works for you!
I saw this before, and it's gorgeous, btw. Really intricate, seems like it was tough, or at least tedious. XD
